I bought a bag of Night Owl beans to take back to Salt Spring. Even though I’m loyal to our SSI roaster, I need to say how excellent this coffee is. The blend of beans strikes a perfect balance for me. Will head straight to you next time I’m in Nelson.

It’s incredibly rare these days to find a place that delivers true, unwavering quality. I’m not someone who likes to speak negatively about others—but I do love celebrating businesses and people who have earned real respect through their craftsmanship. My wife and I recently visited your coffee shop, and we were genuinely blown away. The food and service were excellent, but the coffee… that was something else entirely. As proud coffee snobs, we have to say your roasted beans and overall quality are on a level that major chains like Starbucks could only dream of. Maybe they once started where you are now, but you’ve held onto something special. I also have to mention—my wife’s absolute favourite is the “Princess of Darkness.” She talks about it constantly, and nothing else compares. We just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the care, passion, and dedication you put into every cup. We’re from Kelowna and continue to source your beans—ordering online has been effortless, which we really appreciate. Thank you again, and all the best to your entire team in the New Year.

With a nice rustic interior design in the cafe along with a spacious backyard garden area where people can read, hang out with friends, the cafe is a hidden gem sitting in a rather quiet part of the city. The homemade chocolate croissant is tasty with flaky pastry! We ordered the cappuccino and dandelion tea. They are good, up to cafe standard. One thing to mention is the tea was served too hot. We cannot drink it straight away. My partner burns his tongue a little bit.. But after all it’s an awesome place to chill in the afternoon with a wide range of reasonable priced baking& drinks. Would come back to try the breakfast one day!

The best coffee in nelson. The muffins are super fresh, moist and packed with ingredients. Lovely service every time. Only downside is the people on laptops staying forever on one cup of coffee. It’s not your lounge, it’s a business that relies on table turnover.

Fabulous little place. Very popular and seating is at a premium inside. We got a table which was awesome. Coffee was fabulous and the baked goods were phenomenal. Very lively and busy place with a happy hum of people enjoying the space.

Oso Negro is next-level incredible. Let me tell you about The Gobbler ... the best god damn turkey sandwich in all of BC, hands down. Stacked on fresh sourdough, layered with turkey and homemade cranberry sauce that tastes like your grandma made it with love and a little extra sass. Every bite is perfection ... sweet, savoury, soft, crisp. A sandwich masterpiece. But it’s not just about the food - the staff are kind and attentive, the service is quick and friendly, and the place is spotless. The product placement and layout are chef’s kiss 💋 everything feels curated but cozy. You can tell it’s a place run with heart and pride. Oso Negro is all aces, all day. If you're passing through Rock Creek and don’t stop here, you’re missing out on the most darn tooti ' nana loves you, yum yum sandwich.

Probably some of the best coffee I have had! Came here on a recommendation, and expectations were surpassed. The staff was very friendly and quick, with both the coffee and breakfast food tasting great! Their drip coffee is rich in flavor (I got their dark roast), and the breakfast sandwich was a great mix of savory bacon with fresh tomatoes on egg. Definitely stop in when you can.

Delicious coffee and an excellent breakfast sandwich — very good! The space has a neat indoor setup and a nice outdoor area. It’s a busy spot, but service is quick and efficient. The baked goods are tasty too, with great vegan options available.

Oso Negro Café is pure magic — easily my favorite spot in Nelson! The moment you walk in you’re surrounded by character and charm. The wrought iron details, warm wood tones and artistic touches make it feel one-of-a-kind. Outside, the gardens are absolutely stunning — lush, peaceful and filled with beautiful spots to sit and enjoy your coffee. There’s lots of seating, both inside and out, and every corner feels cozy and inviting. Add in the mountain views and it’s just perfection. The coffee is incredible, the vibe is relaxed and you can feel the care that goes into every detail. An absolute must-visit in Nelson!

We had a delightful breakfast here on a chilly winter morning. The coffee and matcha were excellent. Our breakfast sandwiches were both delicious and hearty, perfect start for a day in the mountains.
